Upgrading to Smarter, Safer Metering
WTG Energy is upgrading all residential natural gas meters as part of our Smart Meter Initiative — a system-wide program designed to enhance safety, improve reliability, and modernize customer service.

The new Honeywell NXU ultrasonic smart meters feature automatic emergency shutoff, real-time usage monitoring, and faster, more efficient service. Installations are being completed by our trusted contractor, Bermex.

What is the Smart Meter Initiative?
WTG Energy is replacing all residential meters with new Honeywell NXU ultrasonic smart meters to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Why is WTG upgrading my meter?
The upgrade adds automatic emergency shutoff, enables real-time monitoring, and eliminates manual readings — allowing faster, more responsive service.
Is this upgrade mandatory?
Yes. The Smart Meter Initiative is required for all residential customers as part of WTG’s modernization plan.
Who is installing the new meters?
Installations are completed by Bermex, a trusted third-party contractor. All technicians carry photo ID and are trained to work safely and efficiently.
Scheduling & Notifications
How will I know when my area is up for installation?
You’ll receive an initial letter followed by a billing insert with specific scheduling details. Installations occur in phases and may take several months to reach your area.
How do I schedule my appointment?
You’ll receive personalized scheduling instructions through a link or QR code. Use your name and account number to select a 2-hour window via the scheduling portal.
What if I miss or don’t schedule my appointment?

If you miss an appointment, you’ll be prompted to reschedule through the same link or by calling Bermex at (833) 899-0729. If you don’t schedule, Bermex will attempt installation during a home visit and may temporarily disconnect service if access is not available.

Installation Details
What should I expect during installation?
Installation typically takes 30–60 minutes. Technicians will need access to your outdoor meter and may enter briefly to relight your pilot light. An adult must be present.
Will there be any cost to me?
No. There is no cost to customers for the meter upgrade.
Safety & Access
How do I know this isn’t a scam?

All WTG and Bermex communications will be clearly marked. Bermex technicians will carry photo identification. If unsure, call the Bermex Call Center at (833) 899-0729 to verify.

What if I’m uncomfortable with someone entering my home?
Technicians will minimize indoor access and always identify themselves. For safety, an adult must be present to allow relighting of pilot lights.
What if I need special accommodations?

If you have limited mobility, language barriers, or other needs, call Bermex at (833) 899-0729 for support or to request a Spanish-speaking representative.
